“Spotlight on Jersey: GMG Covers Hot 97’s ‘Who’s Next’ Pre-Show”

When energy, community, and raw talent collide ... it’s not just a show, it’s a statement.
Covering the “Who’s Next” Hot 97 Summer Jam Pre-Show with my daughter was more than a media assignment, it was a front-row seat to culture unfolding in real time. I had the honor of finally meeting Spliff Star, best known for hyping up crowds for Busta Rhymes, but truly a force in his own right.
His spirit? Infectious. His energy? Unmatched. He reminded me why I do this ... why amplifying voices and legacy matters.
And speaking of legacy, Jersey didn’t come to play. My nephews Fl3a, Trece7ev, and Al B Al lit up that stage with lyrical precision and pride. DJ Taj, my blood and beat conductor, held it down like the pro he is, while DJ Wallah and Drewski, both extended family in this game, kept the crowd lifted.
We captured so much footage and stills that tell this story better than any words could. But this post is just the beginning. My daughter, stepping into her own spotlight, covered the main event solo. I can’t wait to share her lens with the world soon. For now ... consider this the appetizer.
